Annunciate le cinquine candidate ai Cavalli di Leonardo 2009 che il 12 maggio si contenderanno la statuetta nelle varie categorie e il privilegio di accedere al Gran Audience Winner Award, premio determinato dall’opinione del pubblico milanese tra i film vincitori, che verranno proiettati in sala dal 13 al 18 maggio. Tra i candidati all’Oscar Milanese Renè Zellweger e Melissa Leo, candidata all’Oscar 2009 per la sua interpretazione in Frozen River. Tra gli italiani, Marco Pontecorvo per la fotografia e Luca Carbone per il montaggio. Allegro Moderato nella sezione Doc.

The five candidates per categories to the Leonardo’s Horse 2009 have been determined. On May 12 the statuettes will be presented in their different categories and Winners will be announced. The Awarded films will be screened to the public from the 13th to the 18th of May and will have the privilege to participate to the Gran Audience Winner Award, echoing the opinion of Milanese audience on the film celebrated by the Jury. Among the Horse Nominees Renè Zellweger and Melissa Leo, Oscar Nominee 2009 for her interpretation in Frozen River. Beetween the Italians, Marco Pontecorvo in Cinematography and Luca Carbone for the Editing. Allegro Moderato in the Doc category.

Annunciata la Giuria del nuovo MIFF. Unico evento ad aver acquisito le regole dell’AMPAS (Academy Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) per film in anteprima. MIFF Awards 2009 vede tra i sui membri giurati Morando Morandini più grande critico vivente italiano, Martin Landau (Premio Oscar e Cavallo di Leonardo MIFF 2005), Robert Boyle (Premio Oscar), Robert Forster (candidato all’Oscar), Albert Brenner (Candidato all’Oscar), Sandra Oh (Premio Golden Globe e Cavallo di Leonardo MIFF 2001), e Jim Hosney il critico dell’American Film Institute più acclamato dai giovani filmmaker di Hollywood. Folco Quilici nella Giuria dei Doc.

Announced MIFF Awards 2009 Jury. A unique event applying AMPAS rules (Academy Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) with Nominees per Categories for films not released. Among the Jury Morando Morandini biggest Italian critic alive, mythological Critic and AFI teacher Jim Hosney, Golden Globe and Leonardo’s Horse 2001 Sandra Oh and Oscar Awards, Martin Landau (Leonardo’s Horse 2005), Bob Boyle (Oscar to Honorem, 2008), Jackie Brown’s Robert Forster, and most famous Italian documentary filmmaker Folco Quilici in the Doc Jury.

IL MIFF CONFERMA IL SUO MARCHIO QUALITA'.
Cary Fukunaga, premiato al MIFF 2005 per il suo Victoria Para Chino nella categoria dei film cortometraggi, vince il premio della miglior regia al Sundance Film Festival.

È Sin Nombre, diretto da Cary Fukunaga, uno dei film più acclamati di Sundance 2009. Fukunaga si aggiudica il premio per la regia al festival di Park City, emblema degli indipendenti di tutto il mondo. In un’intervista, Fukunaga parla del suo viaggio in Messico e della sua esperienza su un treno di immigranti attraverso le pericolose gang del centro America per portare autenticità al suo primo film lungometraggio. Andrea Galante che ha incontrato il giovane regista durante il Sundance esprime entusiasmo per il premio vinto da un regista, visto per la prima volta in Italia attraverso il festival milanese: “ogni volta che vediamo il successo dei nostri ‘Cavalli’ nel mondo, e di filmmaker venuti a Milano per la prima volta a presentare il loro film e poi riconosciuti globalmente, è un’ulteriore conferma che il MIFF sta andando nella giusta direzione”.

Its Sin Nombre, directed by Cary Fukunaga, one of the most acclaimed films at Sundance 2009. Fukunaga swept the Directing Awards in Park City. In an interview, Fukunaga talks about his travelling in Mexico and about his experience on a train through the Gang of Central America to bring authenticity to his first Feature film. Andrea Galante who met the young talented filmmakers during Sundance espresse vivid enthusiasm for the Award of a director seen for the first time in Italy through the festival in Milan, “each time we see the success of our ‘Horses’ around the world, and of filmmakers come in Milan for the first time to present their film, and then globally recognized, it’s a further prove that MIFF is on the right path”.
