A reluctant heir to a shoe factory owner who decides to save his family’s factory from shutting down. With the help of a dancer named Lola he switches the company’s product from reliable, well-made English brogues to reliable, wellmade, sexy boots - for drag queens and transexual men,
opening a new market. A film in the genre of British films with quirky, rural characters doing something outrageous.
Kinky Boots is Julian Jarrold’s feature film directorial debut. Over the last 10 years, Julian has directed some of the most successful British TV series to date. He directed for the BBC the Emmy-nominated miniseries Great Expectations starring Charlotte Rampling and All the King’s Men. Over the last few years Julian has worked with some of the UK’s most talented young actors including John Simm in Crime and Punishment and Andrew Lincoln in Canterbury Tales: Man of Law. Prior to Kinky Boots Julian also directed Channel 4’s critically acclaimed adaptation of the Zadie Smith’s White Teet.
