The only thing that matters to 17 year-old Maurice Richard is playing hockey. Every night, after labouring to earn a living at a Montreal factory, he laces up his skates and throws himself onto the ice. His dream: becoming a national hockey league player. ‘The Rocket’ chronicles the rise of Maurice into one of the greatest hockey players in National Hockey League history. Charles Binamé started his career directing documentaries and the series Blanche, a sequel to Les filles de Caleb winning the Gémeaux award for best directing and the FIPA d'or in Cannes. Then C'était le 12 du 12 et Chili avait les blues, Eldorado, the movies Le coeur au poing, La beauté de Pandore and the documentary Gauvreau ou l'obligation de la liberté. Un homme et son péché owed him the Billet d'or at the Jutra awards evening and the Bobine d'Or at the Genie Awards. After Hunt for Fustice, a documentary on Gilles Carle, he directs in 2005 ‘The Rocket’ (Maurice Richard).
