MIFF | 8° Film Festival Internazionale di Milano - Fix / Tao Ruspoli / Olivia Wilde, Shawn Andrews, Tao Ruspoli, Dedee Pfeifer, Megalyn Echikunwoke Fix Olivia Wilde, Shawn Andrews, Tao Ruspoli, Dedee Pfeifer, Megalyn Echikunwoke
In one, unwieldy day, documentary filmmakers Bella (Olivia Wilde) and Milo (Tao Ruspoli) race from Beverly Hills to Watts to get Milo's brother, Leo (Shawn Andrews) from jail to rehab before 8 p.m., or Leo will be imprisoned for three years. Inspired by true events, the trio documents their trip from a suburban police station through Beverly Hills mansions, East L.A. chop-shops, rural wastelands and housing-projects as they attempt to raise the $5,000 required to get Leo into the rehab.
Tao Ruspoli is an Italian-American filmmaker and musician. Graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, his most well-known piece is the documentary “Just Say Know” (2002), a personal discussion of his family's drug addiction. His feature narrative debut, “FIX” was one of 10 films to premiere at the 2008 Slamdance Film Festival. In 2000 Tao founded the Los Angeles Filmmakers Cooperative (LAFCO), a bohemian collective of filmmakers and musicians who work out of a converted school bus. He is also an accomplished flamenco guitar player.
