MIFF | 8° Film Festival Internazionale di Milano - Downstream / Simone Bartesaghi / Jonathan Trent, Elizabeth Roberts, Jonno Roberts
Downstream Jonathan Trent, Elizabeth Roberts, Jonno Roberts
And just like that the world ended. With little warning, civilization as we know it simply disappeared. Wes Keller is a man making his way through the wastelands, staying alive despite roving bands of mercenaries, splinter groups of the former governments, and local warlords who control what little resources remain. Along with his dog and faithful traveling companion, Lugosi, they search for hope. The City of Plutopia is what they look for. The story goes that Plutopia was built before the end came. Some say it is a myth, others a terrible lie. But for those like Wes, it represents salvation, one last chance to save humanity and start again. ‘Downstream’ gives us a view of a future that may not be so distant. The tale chronicles the changes that occur in a young man as he balances his integrity for love, loyalty and sacrifice with self-preservation.
