The 1800's were a time of invention and exploration. Science, chemistry and ingenuity were rapidly changing the way we lived. Inventors were racing to develop the unimaginable - from the light bulb, to the telephone to the printing press. It was also the beginning of motion pictures. In the early 1890's Thomas Edison had the edge over all inventors with his latest invention: The Kinetoscope; 'a moving picture viewing machine.' The device however could only be viewed by one person at a time. This story focuses on the Lumière Brothers, Auguste & Louis, a pair of young inventors who dream of making images big enough for the whole world to see. Based on a true story, La Première tells the exciting tale of the invention of the cinema as we know it. It’s a story about expanding on what is possible, about acting on the belief that with hard work and vision, you can make the impossible possible.
Biografia Autore Nick Regalbuto Raised in Southern California, Nick Regalbuto is a director/producer of Documentary, Commercials, Music Video and other moving picture related media. Nick studied at The Czech Film Institute (FAMU) in Prague after graduating from NYU’s Film School. His student short, Landscape received awards and press from The Hollywood Film Festival and Woodstock Film Festival. In 2004 he directed Artflick 001, a hybrid animated short documentary, which was part of the screened at the Sundance & Tribeca Film festivals as well as at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. He recently completed a documentary feature titled “Gubernatorious”, about amateur candidates who run against Arnold Schwarzenegger for governor of California. In addition to his production work has also taught Cinematography at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York. He frequently collaborates with his brother Michael and currently resides in New York City.
