MIFF | 8° Film Festival Internazionale di Milano - Paperback hero / Antony Bowman / Hugh Jackman, Claudia Karvan, Angie Milliken, Jeanie Drynan, Andrew S Gilbert Paperback hero Hugh Jackman, Claudia Karvan, Angie Milliken, Jeanie Drynan, Andrew S Gilbert
The hero, Jack Willis, is a truck driver who has his feet firmly on the ground, yet harbors romantic notions which lead him to write a novel"Bird in the Hand", from which he dissociates himself, entreating his friend Ruby Vale to masquerade as the author. His truck is symbolic of his perception of freedom, yet it’s a restrictive freedom as he’s on a very controlled road. Ruby’s airplane is her world and one, which the men in her life, Hamish and Jack don’t understand. A comedy of errors ensues as two romantic triangles emerge and clash.
Antony Bowman (born in Sydney, Australia), who divides his time between Sydney and Los Angeles, studied at London Film School and returned in mid seventies back to Australia.
