A director of Polish origin undertook a documentary search for the ambiguous personality of a member of an old German aristocratic family, Ludolf Hermann von Alvensleben, nicknamed "Bubi"- a man who was a henchman close to Himmler during the war and was responsible for the execution of thousands of Poles and Russians. After the war, he escaped to Argentina where he obtained citizenship and died 1970 without being prosecuted. The film concentrates on both him and his descendants and close relatives, who have distinct, if not at time controversial attitudes toward the criminal in their own family.
