First developed at the turn of the century as a vacation paradise for the wealthy, MacArthur Park, just west of downtown Los Angeles, now houses a subculture festering with drug addiction, gang violence and civic neglect. Cody, one of the Park’s many fallen souls, is a former musician who gave up his career and his family to succumb to a crack addiction and homelessness. As the elder statesman of the Park, we see through his eyes, the bleak landscape filled with a pathetic cast of characters. Life in the Park is daily warfare with rival gangs, police raids, and wealthy decadents looking for a quick fix. When Cody’s son seeks him out, Cody is forced to face his situation and is inspired to cleanup his act. He plans an escape from the Park with P-Air, a young rapper. One last hustle will deliver their ticket out and into a recording studio to get P-Air's lyrical truths out to the world. The plan backfires and brutal events leave Cody wandering the park aimlessly. The harder he tries to escape the Park, the more it seems to close in on him. Finally, Cody surrenders his

Wirth makes his directorial feature debut with MacArthur Park. Born and raised in New York City, Wirth attended Brown University then worked as an actor for fifteen years in Los Angeles and New York. It was as an actor that Wirth first became interested in storytelling and filmmaking. While shooting Polaroid stills and video documentary footage of the homeless in Los Angeles, Wirth was handed a handwritten, 300-page, jailhouse manuscript by the author's girlfriend who was barely surviving life on the streets herself. While developing the script for MacArthur Park, Wirth directed his
