Frances is a financially struggling writer whose discovery of a severe illness prompts a reconsideration of her life, career and fate. While Frances is fighting the disease through medical treatment, she decides to do some traveling before it’s too late. Frances seeks out the married, retired Air Force pilot, Bob with whom she had an affair 25 years earlier. To Bob’s surprise, Frances strikes up a fast friendship with his wife Betty. Frances shares a confession with her –she had a daughter by Bob that she put up for adoption. Now, she’s not certain if she should track down the child while there’s still time. Meanwhile, her daughter Rebecca, an accomplished, ambitious Manhattan corporate lawyer, is furiously investigating the identity of her biological parents. Rebecca has been hired by a large communications firm to preside over the purchase of a radio station in Florida. Rebecca gets to know the station’s manager, Jimmy. As Jimmy and Rebecca ease into a short-term romance, he shares stories about the “Sleepy Time Gal,” a mysterious female disc jockey
