Kaisa, a tough young Scottish woman has just been promoted at her prestigious London law firm. Her life is finally going according to plan when a call from her mother, Helen, sends her tightly controlled existence into a tailspin. Helen wants Kaisa to travel to Norway, pick up her alcoholic father, Tomas, and escort him to Aberdeen for a new rehab program. Kaisa has not seen her father since she left Oslo ten years earlier. Sensing her hesitance, her mother offers Kaisa an enticing reward—her father’s vintage Alfa Romero. Taking the bait, Kaisa comes face to face with her father once again. However, when she arrives, she discovers that her father has not talked with Helen, has not agreed to enter rehab and has no intention of going with her. Kaisa has come too far to take no for an answer. She cajoles, threatens and persuades Tomas to make the trip. After a confrontation in the airport, the two are forced to drive to Aberdeen. Along the way they meet Clive, who is instrumental in helping the two to reconnect and become father and daughter once again.

Hans Petter Moland's last feature Zero Kelvin received a broad international release, and was well received by both critics and audiences around the world. With Aberdeen, he teams up once more with the main forces behind Zero Kelvin: actor Stellan Skarsg_rd, director of photography Philip Ogaard, and production designer Janusz Sosnowski. Born in Oslo, Moland spent his formative years in the United States. He returned to Norway in 1985, after studying film and theatre directing at Boston's Emerson College, and directing commercials and music videos for the renowned New York Production Company, Giraldi Productions.
