THE NEW MIFF FLYS. AFTER 3 WEEKS 29 NATIONS SUBMIT TO MIFF AWARD
More then 100 films submitted in 3 weeks, after the official presentation of MIFF Awards at AFM. On MIFED's ashes, now Milan, dreams again...
Three months from MIFF Awards deadline, the newly developed format counts more then 100 film entries. "We knew to have a state-of-the-art format, but such a fast success, it's a nice surprise for us too...
.. The decision to move MIFF's Best during AFM, it has been certainly a winning strategy. To be written up by the most prestigious international film industry publications at the same time must have created a spin-wave that hit the movie industry like we've never experienced in the past. After only three weeks, already 29 Nations with more than 100 films submitted to the new concept of MIFF Awards. We hope this will open new opportunities and alliances with corporate brands and city institutions, usually always suspicious about new concepts and ideas.".
The new format which will be seen for the first time May 4-12, 2009 in the capital of design, shaped from MIFF's Best in Los Angeles where Winners of the festival are screened and celebrated annually at the Italian Cultural Institute. It has been designed purposely to facilitate the distribution of those films chosen by the Jury as the Leonardo's Horse Winners, but also to give back to the city of Milan a leadership position in the world of movie business by 2015's Expo – revive Milan as a major player in the international film industry, a reputation that died when MIFED failed in 2004, after 72 editions.
