DERICK MARTINI
Born in New York city, Derick made his feature film debut as co-writer, producer and actor in the award winning and critically acclaimed independent film, GOAT ON FIRE AND SMILING FISH (1999) which won the Discovery award at the Toronto Internation Film Festival. Derick and his brother Steven made the film on a shoe string budget of 40,000 dollars ; it was theatrically released through IDP/Stratosphere in 2000-01. The Martini brothers’ next screenplay, LYMELIFE (2008), was developed at Sundance Filmmaker's Lab and won the International Critic’s Award, the (FIPRESCI), at The Toronto International Film Festival in September of 2008.
STEVEN MARTINI
Steven Martini is a writer, actor, composer, editor, and singer/songwriter who with his brother Derick Martini wrote the film LYMELIFE. Based in part on experiences from the Martini's childhood, the film won the FIPRESCI award at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, and premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Steven's writing career began with GOAT ON FIRE AND SMILING FISH, a film he and his brother financed for $50,000 and starred as the title roles, which won the Discovery Award at the 1999 Toronto International Film Festival.His next script, LYMELIFE, was accepted in the Sundance Institute's Film Program, where he and Derick shot, edited, and scored several scenes, which were reviewed by creative advisers such as Robert Redford, Sigourney Weaver, Wes Craven, Scott Frank, and Chris McQuarrie.
