Gert Brinkers
Gert Brinkers and Jos Stelling worked together as director and Production designer for Jos Stelling’s long feature debut Mariken van Nieumeghen in 1974 and have worked closely together ever since.
Gert Brinkers was awarded with three Golden Calves at the Netherlands Film Festival and the Special Award at the Camerimages Film Festival.
He was faculty head (and founder) of the Production Design department at The Netherlands Film & Television Academy for many years.
Praised by many Dutch filmmakers, he knows Europe by heart. He studied at the Academy of Visual Arts . He always aims to return to ‘the essence of the emotion’. It’s all about creating the right atmosphere and emotion. The setting should add to the story, not be a distraction.
Gert Brinkers has participated in more than 50 film productions and has since long been one of the leading Art Directors in the Netherlands.
