Rashaad Ernesto Green
Rashaad Ernesto Green was born in 1978 in Bronx and started his career as an actor. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and two Master's degrees at NYU, one for the Acting Program, and the other for the Film Program. After spending years acting in theaters nationwide and working in film with directors like Spike Lee, Rashaad had the opportunity to work as a teacher in the South Bronx before turning his efforts behind the camera to tell stories. His first work as a director, the short film Premature, was shown in over 40 festivals worldwide and has achieved over 20 awards; it was then broadcasted on HBO. Rashaad’s next short, Choices, premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, and his latest short Cuts has screened at the Chicago Film Festival and has been aired on HBO. In 2010 Rashaad was listed as one of the 25 New Faces by Independent Film Filmmaker Magazine and started the shooting of his first feature Gun Hill Road. The movie has been selected for the 2010 Tribeca All Access Program, IFP’s Independent Film Week and competes for several worldwide festivals.
