Jules O'Loughlin
Australian Jules O’Loughlin began his career as a stills photographer over 15 years ago under the tutorage of commercial and black/white specialist photographer Ian Wilkinson. He then attended a master in Cinematography at Australian Film Television and Radio School; during his 2 years there, he shot with other students over 15 shorts and documentaries. These films have screened at international festivals such as Aspen, Rotterdam and Berlin and have won him several awards. In 2003 he was accepted to attend the Kodak Masterclass in Thailand featuring the master cinematographer Frederick Elmes. In the past two years Jules has shot several commercials, music videos (for The Hoodoo Gurus and Alex Lloyd) and short films including the multi-award winning Bomb. In 2005 Jules shot the feature Kokoda which won him an Australian Cinematography Society award, and was accepted into the prestigious Camerimage, the International Festival of the Art of Cinematography held in Poland. Between 2006 and 2007, Jules shot two feature films, September and I Am You, starring Guy Pearce. His most recent feature is Kriv Stender’s Lucky Country (2009).
