Biography
Roger Villarroya was born in 1985 near Barcelona. Roger’s passion for film was sparked during his professional coursework in advanced audiovisual production. Quickly he learned that he could communicate his ideas and feelings through an audiovisual medium, in addition to through gestures and words. At the end of his film program, Roger was sure of his passion and knew he wanted to continue to learn as much as possible. He added to his studies a specialized course in non-linear video editing. Working as a television camera operator and creating professional videos for production companies and press conferences helped Roger learn even more about the profession. In the DiBa Express 2008 Festival, Roger was one of two directors of the short film Suspiros and in the same year, the 7th edition of Notodofilmfest chose Quiero Ser Un Mojito as one of its finalists. In 2009 he co-directed several short movies, such as Nessun Dorma, Hemisferios, No Estamos Solos and Capicúa. This last one is the debut of Roger as solo director. The documentary won the award for best film in Notodofilmfest and won a scholarship to study filmmaking in the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles.
